Although billed as "fairy tales for grown-ups" like the author's earlier collection, THE DJINN IN THE NIGHTINGALE'S EYE, fantasy plays a major part in only one of the five longish stories in this book, and two are entirely realistic. He faces an enemy that is ruthless, and has vastly more manpower and resources. Weathered watchmen investigate a murder in a scummy tavern. The book does NOT teach you about incorporating objects into mosaics (although there are a few things other than tiles in some of the projects), but it does tell you how this artist makes mosaics using clay tiles she makes herself with rubber stamps.

There just isn't enough information organized in an efficient manner in this volume to make it worth a reader's time. "My first experience with a "Holloway" was walking a section of the Natchez Trace in Mississippi. However, when I finished this book, I was thoroughly surprised and blown out of my mind.
