Once upon a time, I was painfully shy and worried about making new friends and coming across as weird. Checkov's ability to have the reader understand the intricacies of life and human thought/actions make you feel like he's in your head or something. It's a pity that other examples of groups threatened in their freedoms weren't included to broaden the critique of governments actions. Highly recommend as with all his books.
