This was a disappointing read overall. The writing was often trite and choppy. It just did not read well and often the "voice" of the narrative did not sound like a young boy to me. A well-written story has a flowing style that is harder to define...

Although she has a hard shell, she is quite sweet when trying to do her holiday shopping. It's brutal enough that I wouldn't recommend it to younger than 14 or 15. He has read and re-read this series. I did notice that the stories at least try to give some background information as to the significance of things for newcomers to the universe though.
